A member asked:

What are the treatments for parkinson disease and what will be the medical cost for rest of life?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dopamine + Exercise!: Dopamine meds including (best to worst, in my opinion): azilect, Requip xl/neupro/mirapex er, sinemet & comtan (entacapone). Dbs surgery for advanced patients. Cost likely $300-1000 monthly for life. More generics becoming available these days thankfully! exercise also critical to maximize physical well-being & avoid falls & injury. Meds lift the burden of symptoms, but they won't turn you into bruce jenner!
