Fragile skin: As we age our skin gets more easily damaged by even minor trauma. A bruise is damage of the small vessels under the skin- as the blood oozes under the skin it can spread to a larger area and appears as a bruise. Some medications commonly taken by the elderly can also cause easy bruisability like Aspirin and clopidogrel.
