Pain: It causes mechanical stress on the chest cage and if there is any degree of inflammation in the costochondral cartilages or intercostal muscles it will hurt. This may also hurt from the posterior rib attachments. It shouldn't require any particular treatment or concern. Your doctor can examine to be sure nothing else needs to be considered.
