A member asked:

Can you tell me if i go to my general practioners at 16 years old thinking i have anxiety, will they get things such as social services?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Anxiety Treatment.: It would depend upon your general practitioner. I think a general practitioner would do an exam and see if there's a medical problem underlying the anxiety. Depending on the evaluation, the doctor may prescribe medication, or refer to a psychiatrist or mental health counselor for treatment for anxiety (develop anxiety management skills). Social services could be a resource, but not necessarily.
