A member asked:

Hi, i was born with part of cartilage in the corner of my eye. i've went to the eye doctor before and they consider not getting surgery. it bothers me?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Surgery is an option: Cartilage can be found in congenital choristomas on or around the eye. While there is usually no risk of cancer, they can cause ocular irritation, visual problems, increased growth, and cosmetic problems. A choristoma is a growth where mature tissue elements are found in an abnormal location. Dermoids are an example of this. They can be surgically removed unless removal would risk ocular function.
