Diuretic/salt: Factors contributing the greatest effects upon your blood pressure are your salt intake and the diuretic, hydrochlorothiazide. While the hctz does lower ones bp, it does so at the expense of ones cardiac output and it actually increases ones peripheral resistance which means ones arteries are more constricted. Perhaps, given the BP changes, your dr could use an ace inhibitor or an arb instead.
