Possible infection: With animal bites on the hand, one always has to rule out an infection. While it is possible that you may have an injury to a tendon, the more worrisome thing would be if an infection was present. Pain, swelling and redness on the thumb would be concerning signs. If these are not present then you are likely only dealing with trauma to a tendon. Hope this helps.
