A member asked:

What can cause a lump-in-throat sensation immediatly after burping? i don't think i belched up acid, but...

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Reflux: The lump i'm the throat feeling is most likely from reflux. Stay away from acidic foods and eat healthier and you should be ok. The lump in the throat is due to the spasm of the cricopharyngeal muscle which is the upper esophageal sphincter. When there is acid in the lower esophagus it will tighten and cause that sensation. Go online and research acidic foods to see what foods to avoid.
