Time to recover: The surgery occurred about 2 weeks ago, and regardless of lack of complications, recovery takes many weeks to even months. Stiffness is not unexpected, and rehabilitation will probably be required to get back on track. Would fully avoid any chiropractic treatment to the area of surgery under all circumstances. See your surgeon and discuss recovery plan. Avoid Prednisone as will slow healing.

Lumbar discectomy: It is very common to develop recurrent back and leg pain after surgery due to swelling of the nerve root. This will resolve over the next two weeks. It is very common to feel more back stiffness in the morning and evening. A low profile back brace may speed recovery. Discuss these symptoms with your surgeon to answer your questions and gain reassurance that the recovery course is normal.
