More info needed: Please see your physician before you start applying medications for ringworm or other forms of dermatitis for your 8 month old. Process may be allergic, oil gland related or simply skin irritation and not fungus (ringworm). Good luck.

Round, dry patch: This lesion is usually round, elevated at the edges with a dry patch in the center. It can be found on the arms, legs or trunk. But for a 8 month old also consider ezema which is a skin condition associated with dry skin or allergy to products especially if there is a family history of asthma. The cream to use is a combination of an anti fungal cream and Hydrocortisone cream.

Round raised edges: Ringworms are usualy circular patches raised around the rim with pale center. Sometimes they start as pinpoint clusters of raised rash. They typically are itchy but an 8 month old may just feel uncomfortable. A ringworm is a fungal infection and would require an antifungal cream for treatment like lotrimin (clotrimazole) af.
