Protective response: A cough is a protective response by the lung to expel mucous or irritants that trigger sensors. Any environmental agents (dust, fumes, hair spray, dry heat, etc. ) can trigger a cough. Any infectious process that triggers excess mucous buildup can also. It has nothing to do with a ringworm in any location.
