Your body: Any increased size of gauge in general will decrease the chances of the ear being able to return to its original size/shape. For some people the earlobe may be able to recoup after larger sizes, but i would gather that any size larger than 0.5 inch, and especially if added wt or stretching were involved, may lessen possibility of complete recovery of ear shape.
