See ENT Dr.: It's hard to say without doing an examination of your throat, so it's best to call your pcp dr. Or an ENT doctor to take a look at this.When it feels like glass cutting, it means that it can be swollen, irritated, and definitely needs medical attention. I would not be smoking at all during this time, as it will aggravate, and making it worse. You may benefit more from sailing gargles, and losenges.

More likely: A viral or bacterial infection. So see your doctor. Also quit smoking before it causes you a serious problem.

Infection: At 19 probably not cancer, but you need to stop smoking as it does cause cancer! you most likely have an infection in your throat and the smoking is irritating it more and more. Get evaluated and treated, best wishes.
