Smell?: See or call your dentist for him\her to evaluate what you are smelling. It could be medication used by your dentist, perhaps in the filling or some leaking out through the canal of the tooth if the filling is not sealing the tooth. More likely, some pus\infection may be coming out of the canal into your mouth if the canal was left open to drain the infection.

Infection: Sounds like the tooth is still infected and is draining into your mouth. Please ask your dentist to check. May need to see an endodontic specialist.
