I have had a throbbing pain in the left side of my head above my ear and in my cheek and upper teeth. the cheek is getting worse? what could it be?

See a doctor: This may be a variant of the ramsey-hunt syndrome, or herpes of the geniculate ganglion, or it may be infection involving that area of the skull and cheek. Best to have it looked at by a professional and make sure that nothing serious is in progress. Best wishes.

Pain: Possible causes: tmj pain from clenching or grinding on that side;when you open and close your mouth is there pain in your joint when you touch it? Sinus infection often refers pain to all teeth on that side please see a dentist trained to evaluate TMJ and an ear nose and throat specialist. Let us know the outcome.

Muscle spasm: This could be a muscle spasm from clenching or grinding. Sinus pressure can also mimic tooth pain. Rule out definitive dental concerns such as cavities in teeth. If you are clenching, you may just need a mouth guard made.

2 probabilities: One is an abscessed tooth. The other is TMJ. However there are other, but less common, causes. See your Dentist.
