Unlikely: You may be a bit anxious ( obsessive compulsive) if you are watching your self in the mirror while you swallow. Ask your doctor to address meditation skills for your anxiety and your blood pressure. The test we use for the carotid artery is a doppler or ultrasound test and we usually do this for much older people who have bruits. Swelling has nothing to do with blocked arteries.

Discuss with ur Dr: About ordering a carotid ultrasound to check for blockage. U must have a strong family history of cardiovascular condition considering your young age having hypertension and elevated cholesterol. I presume u already know the basics of living a healthy life.
