Mild acne, used Benzoyl peroxide 5% gel on entire face overnight for past 2 months twice a week. Got red, itchy, burning feeling. now stopped using but skin has red slightly ATROPHIC blotches. Is it permanent ? did I give myself chemical burn?

A UK a GP reply to econsultation asked on phone about spots on face as i thought it may be Acne or Discoid Lupus so he advised i try Benzole Peroxide 5% cream from Chemist without face to face appointment to confirm this.Correct?Very Itchy face now
