A member asked:

Is burning and numbness normally associated with swelling?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NOT NECESSARILY: Commonly pts with nerve compression at the wrist, carpal tunnel syndrome, have pain and numbness, and it often feels like hand is swollen, but not so. Pinched nerves at the ankle, low back or neck, are not usually associated with swelling. But an injury to soft tissue and nerve can cause all of this together. (am excluding local nerve swelling at site of compression, which cannot be seen direct.
