A member asked:

Has anyone done vitrectomy to get rid of floaters? how much risk is there for 60 yo patient?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rarely: Vitrectomy is in fact a big deal with risk to vision and the future health of the eyes. It is not undertaken lightly. Most floaters one can live with. A few vitrectomies have been done for extensive floaters that interfere with eye function. I would not advise it for annoying floaters that do not threaten vision.
