Xanax (alprazolam): Xanax (alprazolam) should not be taken in pregnancy. It can result in withdrawal of the fetus at birth. It is reported to be associated with developmental delays, skeletal anomalies, and problems with brain development. Please discuss this your physician.

It is not a question: Of what defects they will cause, but rather of what they may cause. Even if a drug increases the risks of birth defects ten-fold, that means that instead of a 0.5% chance, there is a 5% chance - or than 95% of babies will not have the defect. Xanax (alprazolam) is associated with cleft palate and potentially spina bifida. Hydrocodone really doesn't produce birth defects. An ultrasound now should show it.
