Need to fix b4 srgry: It will need to be treated prior to surgery- especially the hypokalemia-as it is quite significant. It may cause significant problems- including arythmia, problem with respiratory muscle etc- if it is not treated.

CORRECT POTASSIUM.: 1) why is potassium low? That is an unlikely problem without some specific cause. You need to discuss with your doctor about it before surgery to get whatever cause is treated. And.. You need to have this information in order to tell the surgeon and other health professional you will see.Cause 2) potassium level: should be corrected before surgery.

Electrolytes surgey: Potassium of 2.9 is considered the lower limit acceptable for elective surgery, risks of cardiac arrhythmias occur. But potassium is mostly intracellular and replacing cannot be accomplished quickly and carries its own risks.
