Ankylosing spondylit: 9 in every 10 patients with ankylosing spondylitis have hla-b27 + people who carry the hla-b27 gene have a higher risk of developing the disease. However, the risk for those carrying the gene is still very small. About 80 in every 1, 000 people in the general population carry the gene, but only 2 to 5 in every 1, 000 people have the disease.
