Not really: Unless there is an obvious reversible cause such as excess alcohol consumption, gout is caused by excess uric acid build up in the body due to overproduction or under excretion. Drugs such as Allopurinol and Febuxostat can lower uric acid levels to the point where gout attacks are infrequent.
