Why is the most common symptoms for hyperglyemic (high blood sugar levels) thirst and frequent urintation?

Hyperglycemia: Hyperglycemia causes dehydration. While the kidney tries to excrete all the excess glucose, one loses water as well. Essentially one experiences a diuresis (causing increased urination) which leads to dehydration (thirst).
