Great method: Mirena (levonorgestrel) is a highly effective method of birth control, so good choice. Once it is placed, you don't have to think about birth control for 5 years. Be sure to use condoms if you need protection from STDs. You may have some unexpected spotting in the first few months and over time, your periods will get lighter and may go away (this is safe).
