Yawning usually not: Related to muscle spasm. Look for the underlying cause. If your face and neck and skin feel tight, and you also have issues related to swallowing problems, you need to call your pediatrician immediately. If this doesn't resolve, you still should call your pediatrician, and have this documented. You can also get a second opinion from an osteopathic physician, who can examine your neck more carefully.

Muscle Spasm: The tightness is residual muscle spasm in your neck affecting the plates a and perivertebral muscles. Need to take a nice hot shower, and the spasm should get better.
