Specialitist: A pulmonary md is one who trains 2-3 years after residency to study lung disorders and help establish treatments for a variety of lung disorders. Usually patients are referred by a primary md. Some pulmonary doctors also do sleep medicine. Some illnesses they treat are: copd/asthma, ild, cough, shortness of breath, chronic bronchitis, sleep apnea to name a few.
