Diarrhea: Diarrhea can range from very mild to severe. For severe diarrhea and associated symptoms, i would recommend going to either the emergency room or urgent care clinic. Worrisome diarrhea generally would include symptoms such as: high fever, unrelenting diarrhea, severe abdominal pain, blood or mucous in stool, dehydration, dizziness, or accompanied vomiting. When in doubt, go check it out.

?change: Is this a change in your bowel usual pattern? Is the left sided abdominal pain new? If so, i urge you to see your physician for an evaluation. If this has been a pattern for years, it probably is due to an irritable bowel syndrome where alternating diarrhea and constipation occur and thus the shape and character of your stools vary. Learn what dietary factors influence your bowel patterns.

Pain: Chris. Most cases turn out to be irritable bowel syndrome but it is important to exclude more uncommon but more serious conditions by seeing a GI doctor and having him check you.
