Delayed dentition: There is absolute and relative delay. Absolute delay is when teeth don't appear after the upper limit of normal for age. Most causes are genetic absence of certain teeth. Chronic diseases that affect dentition in childhood are rare nowadays but are worth checking if nothing else has been found. Relative delay is getting teeth later than most peers. This is not abnormal and again genetics plays rol.

Delayed eruption: Barring rare dental and medical abnormalities the major role in determining eruption pattern of teeth is genetics. There are other local factors such as premature loss of teeth from trauma and caries. See your general dentist or an orthodontist to follow eruption pattern both visually and with x-rays. This will prevent bigger problems later on.
