May B occ. migraines: If it's like the 4th of july sparklers, and no pain, chances are high for it being an ocular migraine. If it becomes disabling, have your eye doctor check it out, and do a fundoscopic dilated exam to look at your retina too.

Get evaluated: There are retinal degenerations in which such flashes occur in the way you describe and you should have an ophthalmologist check you out - particularly a retinal specialist. By the way do you have difficulty seeing at night and some issues with color vision?
