A member asked:

Can darkness be harmful to the eyes after awhile like in alaska?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No harm: Low light activates the keenest amount of light receptivity of the eye which can in the right circumstances detect one photon alone. But there is no harm in this. You could live in a cave with no light for years and your eyes would stay healthy.
