Pregnancy test?: It's always a good idea to take a pregnancy test if you have had unprotected sex and your period is late. If the test is negative (and if last sex was more than 14 days ago), then that eliminates several problems. Other gyn causes of pain are ovarian cysts, fibroids, and infections. But it could be non-gyn too: kidney stone, gastroenteritis, uti, appendicitis, etc. Good luck!
