Atypical cells: Generally, yes. "Atypical cells" means the pathologist who saw the slide saw something abnormal, but the slide wasn't completely diagnostic. Therefore, it could be benign/reactive, or it could be something more worrisome. Anything called "atypical" should have more follow-up. Except If this is a pap smear, and HPV test was done and was neg, then that should be enough.
