Look out for clot: Xray really was to see if you had a fracture. It may see signifincant swelling but it does not see minor soft tissue injuries. Most likely you had some contusion/sprain/strain, but injury to the calf/leg areas increase risk of blood clot etc..So, if you have more swelling and soreness etc., recheck with your doc..Motrin/aleve may help the pain. Keep active. Good luck.

A good thought: Dr. Nguyen is right, a clot in a superfical or deep calf vein could certainly cause this kind of symptom. Clots might not cause anything more than tenderness and aching. If there are anhy prominent veins, any redness and/or swelling, a clot is something you want to make sure you don't have. On the other hand, it could just be a muscle strain. It is worth checking out.
