A member asked:

My 7wk old has a cephalohematoma from birth that we were told would take two months to reabsorb. no changes yet - is this ok? how long does this take?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See full answer: Cephalohematoma occurs between the thin outer covering of the bone called periosteum and the calvarial bone. This blood collection reabsorbs and calcifies as it heals. The length of time can be widely variable. The most important thing is that the infant continues to grow and develop normally. As long as that occurs, the natural growth and shaping of the skull will correct any bulge.
