It depends: If you just eat flax seeds this will have minimal if any effect on blood clotting. However, flax seed oil is a mild natural blood thinner, making reducing platelet adhesiveness and thus reducing tendency of blood to clot. Thus, if you grind flax seeds before eating them you will release the oil and it will act as a blood thinner. See http://umm.Edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement/flaxseed-oil.
