Immune boosting: No. There is no magical formula to improve immune function. Young children are more susceptible to infection because they have not been exposed to many of the common pathogens present in the community and it takes time for them to build up the prerequisite antibodies to reduce the frequency of future attacks. There are some babies with immune deficiency but this must be detected by pediatriiacian.

Immune boosting: If nutrition is adequate, suppliments will be unlikely to 'boost' the immune system. One probiotic called 'culturelle' has been shown in several fairly large scientific studies to help children with food allergy-related atopic dermatitis (eczema) to out-grow these food problems and improved eczema faster than those who did not take this probiotic (ann. Allergy asthma immun. 2008; 101:508-16).
