A member asked:

My 6 month old has a cold with no fever and a slight cough. all i have been doing is sucking out her nose with a sucing bulb. what can i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not much, really: You know getting infections is part of life as a child. This is how we build up immunity against future infections that we are exposed to. Cough meds are not recommended at this age. The best things to do to help her are to use saline nose drops, suction (gently) as you are doing, and elevating the head of her crib or bassinet. See your doctor if she gets worse or develops a significant fever.
