Is the bacteria megasphaera normal in the vagina? im 39 weeks pregnant with this in vagina. midwife said its normal in the vaginal flora and doesn't need treatment? this true? im having a vaginal birth

Megasphaera: Increased concentrations of megasphaera can be associated with an infection called bacterial vaginosis. This infection is treated with oral antibiotics. There are vaginal creams, but they not recommended during pregnancy. Bacterial vaginosis can cause pre term labor, vaginal infection after childbirth and low birth weight. You should see your doctor for further evaluation of this finding.

Bacteria live there: There is a normal "flora" of bacteria in the vagina and that can be one of the inhabitants.
