A member asked:

What happened a if i take antibiotics on a viral infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antibiotics ; virus: Antibiotics will only help a bacterial infection, they will have no effect on a viral infection. The best case scenario is that nothing will happen and the virus will just run its course. However there is the risk is that you may get a side effect from the antibiotic that you wouldn't have otherwise. Some side effects are merely annoying, like a yeast infection, but some can be more serious.
