Prostatitis tx: There are many different kinds of prostatitis. Bacterial prostatitis require antibiotics. The prostate receives only a small blood supply and it is difficult to get antibiotics to penetrate the tissue. Therefore, the recommendation is for a minimum 4 weeks of antibiotics. This may be modified by your physician.

Poor blood flow: The treatment of bacterial prostatitis can require 4 or more weeks of antibiotic use due to the fact that the prostate gland typically has a poor blood supply and we must rely on the blood flow to bring antibiotics to any area of the body. Thus it takes longer for the prostate gland to "build up" enough antibiotics to even start killing the bacteria. It is very important to finish all antibiotics.
