Crohns: Yes you can have a this is a complex decision to be made in coordination with your gastroenterologist and surgeon. The problem with colectomy in crohns disease is the fact that the disease can then affect your small intestine resulting in shortgut syndrome and the inability to absorb nutrients and water properly. Please talk this over with your gastrologist and seek a surgical opinion from a colorectal specialist.
