No: Cleaning by wiping away crusted dicharge is all that is recommended. 'pink eye' is usually a viral infection of the outer eye. It gets better on its own , usually within 1 to 2 weeks. If there is any vision loss or change call your eye professional or primary doctor immediately. Diluted baby shampoo is used for maintenance treatment of chronic eyelid coditions.

Yes: It is good to get the build up off the lids and lashes to avoid reinfection. Be sure to wash hands with antibacterial soap as pink eye is very contagious!
