Abnormal Conduction: Av block can potentially cause fainting; therefore it merits evaluation, including a careful history, physical exam and a 24 hour holter monitor test. In instances wherein there is a history of fainting and/or the holter reveals pauses which are long enough to cause fainting, a pacemaker is implanted to prevent further pauses.
