Possibly: Ankle swelling certainly could be an indication of arthritis. Alternatively, if there has been a recent injury, trauma can cause swelling as well. Keep in mind that arthritis simply refers to wear and tear of the joints which essentially happens to all of us humans as we get older. If your pain or symptoms persist or worsen, then see a physician.
