Does using baby oil on your skin while tanning increase your risk of getting skin cancer?

Baby oil and cancer: Skin with baby oil soaks up the sun faster than dry skin alone. The sun's harmful uv rays react with the shiny oil, penetrating deeper into the skin. Although the tan will be darker, the process increases the amount of uva and uvb rays that get into the skin. According to the skin cancer foundation, uv rays damage skin cell's dna, leading to a higher potential for genetic mutation and skin cancer.

Not by itself: However, the more time you spend tanning (regardless of any tanning oil type product), the higher your risk of skin cancer. I would recommend some of the good spray on tanning products to give you the look you want.

Yes: Use sunscreen. Baby oil intensifies the cancer causing rays.
