Suicide and trauma: I am sorry to hear that your friend feels "traumatized by the local mental health system." she may not like the idea of working with them, but suicidal plans are serious and need professional attention. You can help her to connect with a doctor or doctors who will work with her to resolve her challenges. She may need hospital admission at this time. Call 911 if you need to, to get her to help.

NAMI: You can contact nami, national alliance for mentally ill. Your friend is in crisis w/or w/out a chronic illness. This organization can help you support your friend and can refer you to organizations that help folks w/suicidal ideation. You are a good friend. They very best to you.
