Yes: Acetabular fractures that are 'displaced'( not anatomically aligned) can result in arthritic changes to the hip joint as time progresses. Most young or even middle- aged adults who sustain a high energy injury that results in an acetabular fracture and or associated hip dislocation will require surgery.Low energy injuries in older adults can often be treated non- operatively.Best of luck!
