Could be either: A cold and the flu are both caused by viruses. The flu comes on suddenly with a fever, headache, cough, runny nose and body aches. A cold generally starts gradually with a scratchy throat or nasal congestion, and other symptoms develop. If you didn't get a flu shot, you can still get one! the flu lasts a lot longer than a cold, and makes you more ill.
