A member asked:

Surgery for iud removal in 2 weeks because it is stuck. how common is this? will conceiving again be a problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Common: While it's not super common, it does happen. Typically women who have this issue don't have any problems with conception thereafter. You can ask your surgeon when they perform the surgery if there's evidence of any scar tissue? Scar tissue or inflammation in the pelvis can be associated with infertility. But having to have laparoscopic removal of an iud doesn't typically cause any problems.
